Kohles & Bach technicians take great pride in our ability to repair your Des Moines furnace.

But sometimes the most economical solution is to install a new energy efficient furnace in your home or office. With that in mind, here are some indications that it’s time to replace and not repair your old furnace.

According to the website energy.gov, here are some indications you should replace and not repair your furnace:

  • It’s more than 15 years old.
  • Your equipment needs frequent repairs.
  • Your energy bills are going up.
  • Some rooms in your house are too hot or too cold.
  • Your home has a humidity problem.
  • Your furnace is loud.

According to the website bobvila.com, the average life of a furnace is 20 to 30 years, but he agrees that 15 years is when you should start considering a replacement. If you do need to replace your furnace, Vila says you should get estimates from at least three companies. He adds: “Written estimates should identify the brand, type, size, efficiency, rating and warranty.”

The Environmental Protection Agency says a new Energy Star gas furnace will save you an average of $94  per year on your energy bill.

It’s currently a great time to buy a new heating and air conditioning system from Kohles & Bach. Midamerican rebates can save you nearly $2,000 on a new system. And Lennox’ winter 2014 promotion adds another $1,300 on top of that. For more information, visit our special offers page or give us a call today at 515-278-2900.
